In 2001, the Colorado Division of Wildlife recommended controlled public hunting in order to decrease the numbers of elk on the property to manage herd health and habitat. Since 2002 the previous landowners have allowed hunting in the Backcountry Wilderness Area. Now that HRCA is the owner of the Backcountry Wilderness Area, the Association needs to be stewards of the land and manage the number of elk on the property. The Board of Directors has decided to present information at community meetings so residents can be better informed about the program and to seek their input. The two Community Informational Meetings will be:
