Google conducted a nationwide search in March for a community to be a test site for its ultra-high speed broadband network. The network would deliver internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what Americans have access to today.
Google asked communities to provide information explaining why the trial should be in their community. Highlands Ranch residents, agencies, organizations, schools, and businesses were needed to nominate our community.
Highlands Ranch threw it hat into is now competing with over 600 communities across the U.S., for the chance to be Google's ultra-high speed fiber test community. The community application and nominations have been submitted; now it's up to Google to pick us.
...together we hope to win Google’s ultra-high speed internet!

How our community showed it's support:
1. By Nominating Highlands Ranch - We are compteing with many cities across the U.S., so the more nominations we have, the better chance Google will consider us. Please take a moment to complete a short survey on Google's website that will take less than 15 minutes to complete. On the form, type 'Highlands Ranch, CO' in the space for Your Organization. The more responses, the better! (Note: Google requires that you have a Google account to nominate a community. If you do not already have an account, you can create one for free with your e-mail address.) Let's show our exciment and creativity for moving from fast, 7Mpbs, 20Mbps, or 50Mbps available now to the 1000Mbps that Google’s 1Gig Fiber will provide. Imagine a 1Gig Fiber connection to each home and business in Highlands Ranch. Nominations must be submitted to Google no later than 6:00 pm (MST) on March 26.
2. Entering our contest. Residents sent us creative endeavors to show how Highlands Ranch can utilize Google 1Gig Fiber to every home and business – show us what new applications and uses this new speed will enable. You will automatically be entered into the contest with a chance to win cash prizes, totaling $1000, sponsored by Fujitsu. All responses must be submitted to the HRCA no later than 5:00 pm on March 22 to qualify for the contest. See contest rules.
