PARENTING CLASSES
Taming the Terrible Twos and Threes
If temper tantrums, hitting, back talk, or other issues are problems for your 1 – 4-year-old, learn what you can do to help. Certified parent coach, Dianne Daniels, will also address bedtime problems, picky eaters, and how to keep our cool when the kids push our buttons.
Week 1: Age Appropriate Discipline, These early years are the perfect time to get a solid system of discipline in place for your family. By teaching young kids how to behave and how to handle the consequences when they don’t, we see much better behavior as they grow up. Week 2: Patient Parenting: Shouting rarely gets the results we want. Plus, we don’t want our kids learning to holler when they don’t get their way. Week 3: Giving Meaningful Choices: Kids thrive when they have a say in their own lives. By letting kids make certain choices, they learn some valuable lessons and also stop (or avoid) particular behaviors. Week 4: Family Fun: When everyone behaves well, we can have so much fun with our families. However, there are certain things that will spoil the fun every time.
Price: member $65/program guest $84
Mondays, September 13 - Ocotober 4; 9:15-10:15a.m.

Week 1: Age Appropriate Discipline: why your discipline style matters, what your discipline says about your values, how to build character through meaningful consequences, when to use Time Out and when to use other forms of discipline, and how to give instructions that are followed. Week 2: Patient Parenting: Shouting rarely gets the results we want. Plus, we don’t want our kids to holler when they don’t get their way. In this class we will talk about:, Strategies for keeping our patience, techniques for teaching our kids to be patient, and what to do after we lose our tempers. Week 3: Getting It All Done: By the time homework, soccer practice and dinner are finished, there is no time left in the day to just be together as a family. In this week’s session we will learn: Strategies for getting homework done more quickly, how to manage everyone’s schedule, how to make the most of dinner-time and bed-time conversation, and how to live by your values rather than life’s urgencies. Week 4: Family Fun: when everyone behaves well, we can have so much fun with our families. However, there are certain things that will spoil the fun every time. In our final week, we will look at: What behaviors get in the way of your family having fun together, changing attitudes, teaching responsibility, when to be the parent and when to be a friend and being a 1-rule family.
